Living In GJ, Colorado

Wow....I haven't posted to this blog in a few years. So many things have changed. I'd like to start blogging more, maybe I can keep it up this time.

I have had so many "firsts" living in Colorado. I climbed Mt Garfield, this pic is me at the top. Length : 4 miles (felt like 20) Skill Level: Strenuous (wanted to die) Duration:3 hours (took me 4) Elevation: starts at 4,800ft Top Elevation: 6,765ft (at this point I was ready for a helicopter to come save me) Moved to Grand Junction in November of 2010 and this climb was in May 2011. I did train for a few months with a trainer and he went with me to the top. Encouraged me the whole way. Travis if you are reading this THANKS!!! I can honestly say going down was brutal. Scarier than going up. But I DID IT!! and will NEVER do it again. :)

One of my favorite things to do...go camping. We were so proud to buy our first camper. Getting away and going up in the mountains to camp was/is THE BEST!!! The view...amazing. Always a good time camping.

Ouray..one of the most beautiful places. First time to go to a Hot springs. Warm water and beautiful view.

The kids experiencing snow for the first time. This was in Novemeber 2010 our drive to our new home, we were coming over a mountain pass and there was SNOW. Flipflops and all!! I love the look on the kids faces.

The first snowman in our backyard. January 2011

Going to Moab, Utah Jeeping....always an adventure. The Jeep had quite the makeover. ;)

Dressed as a Hippie for Halloween 2012. Meadow and Harmony AKA Stacie and Trish

Winefest!!! Now that was a gooood time.

Winefest love!!! Trish and Scott.

Went to VEGAS for the first time!!! Novemeber 2012

Rode the Mechanical Bull at Gilleys in Vegas!!!! Now that was a FIRST for all and will be a yearly thing. I do believe Trish, Jarrod, Scott and I will never forget THE MULLETT. Scott wearing his wig the whole time at Gilleys. Never got one awkward look. That's Vegas for ya. Everyone rode the bull. Scott lost, being too worried about his wig falling off. Trish had the best form. Jarrod's form was all about protecting his face. Hmmm...lets see. I had no form. Arms and legs wrapped around and holding on for dear life.  I plan to redeem myself this year 2013.

First time to paint on a canvas. The Palette is a super fun place to go have some wine, listen to music and paint a masterpiece.

Cheers

Next up would be SUSHI!!!! I will say that I will def go back and "try" it again. Oh and I ate EEL!! The veggie roll was my fav. Not a fan of soy sauce.

I think that sums up some of my firsts the last few years. I look forward to seeing what 2013 has in store for me.

Zumbalicious

I kinda got off track for about a month. Had maintained my weight but wasn't losing anymore. So I reeved up my workout. Instead of 45minutes I try to workout 1 hr. 15mintues. Which actually goes by pretty fast with my Zumba DVD's. Lost 3.7lbs last week, so I'm back on track!!!! YAY!!! And it feels GOOOOOOD.

When I first started Zumba...back in January Brycen would tell me "Momma you look funny doing that." Well today..while I was working out to my Zumba he says "Momma you are getting good at that." and "Momma you are starting to look half way skinny." So I'll take that and keep working out. :)

Part 2 - My Journey

I started working out to Jillian Michaels again. Really like 30 Day Shred Workout Video. It's a short workout but pretty intense. One of those workouts that I get the "oh crap, I think I'm going to throw up" feeling. Jumping Jacks, squats, lunges, push ups are the devil. Somehow I manage to keep moving and keep it down.

Working out is alot more mind control than anything. I have to constantly tell myself to keep moving....you can get through this. Don't think about the pain....just move move move. I have a little over 3 months to lose 30 more lbs. I want to lose it by my 32nd birthday on September 13th. So Part 2 of My Journey begins. Lose 30lbs in 113 days. Well, when I see it like that...shouldn't be a problem. YAY!!!!

Komen Houston Race for the Cure "Bosom Buddies"

Thanks to my friend Melissa Wheeler I have decided to join her team "Bosom Buddies" Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure.

This fall I will be participating in The Komen Houston Race for the Cure. I am taking an extra step and raising additional funds in the fight against breast cancer. Will you join me in this fight??

Every 68 seconds, somewhere in the world, a woman dies from breast cancer - the most prevalent cancer among women today. The Komen Houston Race for the Cure raises money to fund education, screening and treatment programs in our community and supports national cutting edge research in hopes of finding the cures. In addition, the Race celebrates breast cancer survivorship and honors those who have lost their battle with the disease.

If you are interested in joining our team let me know. I plan to walk, so any walkers are welcome. I would love the company. We will be getting shirts made....it'll be alot of fun!!!!

Half Way There!!!!

Just wanted to write an update on my Journey with Diabetes. So far I've lost 30lbs since January. I never thought I would get to that...but now that I've made it half way I know I can lose 30 more. That is my goal. 60lbs GONE!!!!

I am still going to Zumba and I love it!!! Have started using the Eliptical Machine instead of walking/jogging. Gotta change it up every now and then. :)

Hopefully by my birthday in September I will of met my 60lb weight loss goal. Stay tuned......

Couch to 5K

I really think this Couch to 5K is going to work!! I mean, 4 weeks ago I wouldn't of thought I could jog like I did today. I am on Week 4. Starts off with a 5 minute warm up, 3 minute jog, 90 second walk, 5 MINUTE JOG, 2 1/2 min walk, 3 minute jog, 90 second walk, 5 MINUTE JOG, PHEWWWWWW...5 minute cool down. Total of 32 minutes. I was ECSTATIC that I actually made it. If I can do it anyone can do it.

My next Dr. appt. is Friday. Hopefully the scale will be good to me. I don't have a scale here at home. So the only time I weigh in is at the Dr. Which is a good thing, for me.

This picture my friends is the pile I have wanted to start for many many years now. It's the "can't fit into anymore" pile. And not because the pants are too tight!!!! Two pair of jeans and two pair of shorts. GONE!!!! I plan to keep adding to the pile. : )
