Zumbalicious

I kinda got off track for about a month. Had maintained my weight but wasn't losing anymore. So I reeved up my workout. Instead of 45minutes I try to workout 1 hr. 15mintues. Which actually goes by pretty fast with my Zumba DVD's. Lost 3.7lbs last week, so I'm back on track!!!! YAY!!! And it feels GOOOOOOD.

When I first started Zumba...back in January Brycen would tell me "Momma you look funny doing that." Well today..while I was working out to my Zumba he says "Momma you are getting good at that." and "Momma you are starting to look half way skinny." So I'll take that and keep working out. :)

Part 2 - My Journey

I started working out to Jillian Michaels again. Really like 30 Day Shred Workout Video. It's a short workout but pretty intense. One of those workouts that I get the "oh crap, I think I'm going to throw up" feeling. Jumping Jacks, squats, lunges, push ups are the devil. Somehow I manage to keep moving and keep it down.

Working out is alot more mind control than anything. I have to constantly tell myself to keep moving....you can get through this. Don't think about the pain....just move move move. I have a little over 3 months to lose 30 more lbs. I want to lose it by my 32nd birthday on September 13th. So Part 2 of My Journey begins. Lose 30lbs in 113 days. Well, when I see it like that...shouldn't be a problem. YAY!!!!

Komen Houston Race for the Cure "Bosom Buddies"

Thanks to my friend Melissa Wheeler I have decided to join her team "Bosom Buddies" Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure.

This fall I will be participating in The Komen Houston Race for the Cure. I am taking an extra step and raising additional funds in the fight against breast cancer. Will you join me in this fight??

Every 68 seconds, somewhere in the world, a woman dies from breast cancer - the most prevalent cancer among women today. The Komen Houston Race for the Cure raises money to fund education, screening and treatment programs in our community and supports national cutting edge research in hopes of finding the cures. In addition, the Race celebrates breast cancer survivorship and honors those who have lost their battle with the disease.

If you are interested in joining our team let me know. I plan to walk, so any walkers are welcome. I would love the company. We will be getting shirts made....it'll be alot of fun!!!!

Half Way There!!!!

Just wanted to write an update on my Journey with Diabetes. So far I've lost 30lbs since January. I never thought I would get to that...but now that I've made it half way I know I can lose 30 more. That is my goal. 60lbs GONE!!!!

I am still going to Zumba and I love it!!! Have started using the Eliptical Machine instead of walking/jogging. Gotta change it up every now and then. :)

Hopefully by my birthday in September I will of met my 60lb weight loss goal. Stay tuned......

Couch to 5K

I really think this Couch to 5K is going to work!! I mean, 4 weeks ago I wouldn't of thought I could jog like I did today. I am on Week 4. Starts off with a 5 minute warm up, 3 minute jog, 90 second walk, 5 MINUTE JOG, 2 1/2 min walk, 3 minute jog, 90 second walk, 5 MINUTE JOG, PHEWWWWWW...5 minute cool down. Total of 32 minutes. I was ECSTATIC that I actually made it. If I can do it anyone can do it.

My next Dr. appt. is Friday. Hopefully the scale will be good to me. I don't have a scale here at home. So the only time I weigh in is at the Dr. Which is a good thing, for me.

This picture my friends is the pile I have wanted to start for many many years now. It's the "can't fit into anymore" pile. And not because the pants are too tight!!!! Two pair of jeans and two pair of shorts. GONE!!!! I plan to keep adding to the pile. : )

Out with the OLD...In with the OLDER

So this morning I decided to "try" on one size smaller jeans. Ones I've had for a few years and haven't been able to wear. Super excited when not only did the jeans fit BUT were very comfortable. I think I just may sleep in these jeans....!!! :)

Tonight I go to my second Zumba Workout Class. I really enjoyed it on Monday and have looked forward to going again. Always fun to booty shake and lose weight!!!

I am also on week 3 of my Couch to 5K. Week three...oh week three, has been tough. Jogging for 3 minutes doesn't sound long but when your LEGS ARE ABOUT TO FALL OFF it is LONNNNGG!! Hard to imagine jogging for 3 miles. But I'll get there.

Dietician

Today I had my first appointment with the Dietician. A little...okay REALLY OVERWHELMING!!!!! Lots of information to process. Here's a little run down of what I kinda learned today. I should be eating two serving of carbs at each meal. No more than 30 carbs a meal. Snacks I can have up to 15 carbs. Get this..if there is over 5g of fiber I can take my Carb number and half it. Yep..that's right!!!

Some protein at every meal. 1600 calories a day. No more than 150 carbs a day. Cake???? Yes I can eat cake. 2 in square piece which will take up my 2 carbs. Probably not a wise choice. But you never know. Might really really need that piece...or should I say CRUMB of cake. :)

Suppose to eat 6 times a day. And keep the carbs evenly spread thru the day. Which what I've been doing is eating less carbs during the day and more at night. This isn't Weight Watchers I can't save my points and use them at the end of the day. (You were so right about that Tracie!!) So I should spread the carbs out equally during the day so my sugar levels stay happy!! Okay, I think that's it!! Phewwww.

Next appointment in two weeks.

Half-Marathon...Maybe???

So Scott ran the Chevron Houston Marathon Sunday. This was his third year in a row to participate. It is a really cool feeling to be there and watching all the people out there kicking butt!!!! I was at the 25 mile marker when I saw Scott. It was an amazing feeling to see my Hubby come around the corner. He even came over and gave me a sweaty kiss. He is awesome!!!! I'm sure he was glad that he was on his last mile. It was really nice this year, I would get text messages updating me on what mile he was at and his pace etc. That way I had an idea when he would be coming thru. He was right on time.

I am hoping to participate in the Half-Marathon next year. Baby steps first....5K, 10K then possibly Half Marathon. Scott says he'll run it with me...be by my side the whole way. I just don't think I'm "made" to endure all that pain. We shall see...it's not a NO just a MAYBE!!

Glucose is Sugar!!!!

So yesterday (Friday) was my first "Diabetic" Dr. visit. I have Type 2 Diabetes. Here's what I got out of my visit. Basically insulin comes from pancreas, we get glucose (sugar) from the food we eat (carbs) and between the two mine isn't working right. Glucose for us is like gas to a car. You gotta have it. So I do need to eat some carbs. Somebody who doesn't have Diabetes can pretty much eat a whole cheesecake and your glucose levels will stay normal around 70-100. Well mine would probably be 200. So no cheesecake for me. Maybe just a nibble!!! : )

I go to a Dietician next week and I'm pretty sure cheesecake isn't on the "can eat alot of" list. So I will be doing alot of research to find things I can eat. Because yes my friends...I ENJOY FOOD!!

PS - Lost 11lbs.

BLAH BLAH CARBS!!!!

It's one of those days. Just feeling BLAH!!! That pretty much sums it up. I find myself eating the same thing everyday. Why??? Because it's all I know to eat right now. Guess I'm being lazy too and not wanting to explore other things. I don't know....it's kinda setting in now that I will ALWAYS be looking at carbs and being careful with what I eat. I used to eat WHATEVER..WHENEVER. Apparently, that hasn't worked for me. So this is just one bad day among many many good days. It's okay to feel sorry for myself every once in awhile..Right?!?!? Have my own little pity party.

On the bright side I did lose 2 1/2 inches of good ol' fat around my waist. So I am pumped about that. See I knew I could turn this bad day around. : )

PS - I will try something new for dinner tonight.

Dominated

Yesterday was a really really good day. My numbers were GREAT!!! Stayed below 88 all day. Totally DOMINATED!! Ate something new yesterday for lunch. Celery, spread with whipped cream cheese and a little bit of picante sauce on top. Surprisingly YUMM-O!! Of course anything with cream cheese ROCKS!! :)

Worked out for 30minutes last night went walking at the track. Getting ready to head out this morning...today is my "Couch to 5K" workout and I'm on week 2. So 7 more weeks and I should be able to jog 3 miles. WOOHOO!!!! May need to add a few more weeks on to that but I'll get it done. :)

Breakfast

So this morning I decided to eat some Regular Oatmeal. Added some pecans for a little flavor and of course a dash of splenda. Is it possible for Regular Oatmeal to taste like a donut?????? I think NOT. My motto...Eat to Live. Not LIVE TO EAT!!!! I love food....all the not so healthy kind. Can't wait for lunch!!!!!

Diabetes

Today my Dr. tells me that I have Diabetes. So I have decided to blog about my journey to getting healthy. It's so easy to say okay I'll start getting healthy, eating right, exercising next week. Then the next week rolls around and the next and then before you know it another year has passed. I start a program, diet and exercise and I usually hit that two week mark and then fall off the wagon. Well there's no more falling off. I'm ready for the bumpy ride!!!! I have battled with my weight now for several years. This was my WAKE UP call....I get it and I'm ready to ROCK!!!!! I want/need to be the best I can be for my babies, my family and for ME!!!! This is going to be a life style change that I am welcoming!!

PS- I HEART Sugar Free Jello Pudding!! Takes care of that sweet tooth of mine!! ;)
